Kathy Kelly Though I was born in Germany and lived several years in Virginia, I grew up mostly in Arizona and have always considered myself an Arizonan. I went Northern Arizona University, graduating in 1978. It was there that I discovered the Episcopal Church. I was drawn to the liturgy and the way it was rooted in tradition. In 1977 I was baptized and confirmed in the Church of the Epiphany, Flagstaff. After graduation, I joined the Army as linguist. I served 26 years in several states as well as overseas. Music has been one of my continuing ministries. I first joined the choir at St. James, Monterey, CA and since then making music has always been part of my worship and ministry. As a life-long learner, I also participated in study groups centering on the Bible or other spiritual topics and books. I came to St Luke’s in 2004 when I moved to Prescott after retiring from the Army. Following my habit of getting involved I soon joined the choir and the handbell choir. I’ve volunteered many years for Vacation Bible School and worked with the Youth Group one year. In 2007, I started Education for Ministry and in 2010 started co-mentoring the group. I am currently serving on the St. Luke’s School Board and am one of the school’s representatives to the Arizona Episcopal Schools Foundation. |
